Special Post- My Favorite Show of the Decade
If you've hung around me for a while then you'll know that i love the show 24 and it is undoubtedly my favorite show of the last 10 years. This past week I watched the whole 6th Season on DVD in my abundance of current free time. So it has made me want to make this post. There is sooo much I can say but I'll note several things.
The show began in the fall of 2001 and I got into it when I saw a Friday night rerun of the 3rd episode of the first season. After watching it that night, I wanted to know what happened next so I tuned in the next Monday night and for the rest of the decade. I would even tape episodes and watch them a couple more times before the next one came on a week later, very good idea especially when I would get sick.
At the same time, my dad also got into the show so we have had many 24 discussions over the years. I also got my cousin David into it somewhat, one day around 5 years ago I just randomly popped in my DVD of the First season that I had been watching and even though it was more in the middle of it he insisted that we kept watching it cause he was hooked even without knowing everything that was going on. From there he borrowed a couple other seasons from me and he said that he would would stay up all night to watch them cause of how addicting it is (this seems to be a common tale with many people).
One thing the show is known for is the shocking or emotional moments including numerous character deaths. Even though these moments hurt to watch, I admire the courage of the show's creators to make it more realistic by having CTU and other agencies not preventing every single crisis that appears. Watching the end of the 6th season late Saturday night made me think of all the crap the main character Jack Bauer has been through and it seriously made me want to cry. He is told and reminded numerous times that he is cursed and that every thing and almost every one that goes near him dies. He has realized many sad truths over the seasons which he tries many times to prove false but they keep happening.
So many actors have been on the show over the last seven seasons and every time I see these actors on other shows or movies I'm always reminded of their 24 characters. So one silly comment on that is that in the Twilight movies, Bella's parents are both 24 bad guys especially her mother haha.
The First, Second, and Fifth seasons in my opinion are the show's best and I will stick with it as long as the show will be on. I've seen all the seasons on DVD at least twice. I always got them as Christmas presents every year but I'll wait to get the 7th season until it is much lower in price. I will continue to watch the DVDs whenever I feel like watching something I can follow for a whole week.
3rd Week of December Recap
Last time on my recap post . . . .there's a pizza place that I wanna try . . . . . .
and now the continuing story
Yep, I tried the Pizza Pie Cafe on Saturday. It's OK, they have good choices and is pretty tasty but nothing too special.
What else happened this past week.
-Two last finals for the fall semester, and if I'm good at predicting grades they'll be my best in a couple years. While at school I purchased my books for the next semester and this is the best time cause of books being sold back recently so I got the majority of the books at their used condition and price saving me a lot of money.
-I saw a couple movies at the good ol' dollar theater on Tuesday. The first was Couples Retreat and to be short and sweet about it, if it's considered a romantic comedy then I'll say it lacks in the comedy part but does well in the romantic part. The second movie was The Box from writer/director Richard Kelly who did one of my favorite movies Donnie Darko, and like Darko, the movie and ending don't seem so confusing but there's probably soooo much stuff about it that you won't get or fully understand without doing some research. But this was nowhere as good as Donnie Darko is and is just an alright movie.
-looks like I gained some more weight in the last couple weeks so I'm gonna have to get strict on myself again.
-finally made my way to the library and rented some movies, pretty good from what I've watched so far.
-Yesterday I went to another one of Anna's family Chrsitmas parties and had a good time. It included a white elephant gift game and I was so nervous to the reaction to the gift I brought- a Burger King Gift Card and some candy. But I guess it was recieved well.
-Speaking of Christmas, I did my Christmas shopping this past week also and did it at good times. I mostly stuck to shopping for family and really close friends.
-There's one other notable thing I did this week but it will be metioned above in a special post right above this one.
Thank you for reading
Happy Holidays blog readers!!

5th Annual Best, Middle, and Worst Movies (That I Saw) List for the Year 2009
The list is back home!! This list appeared for the first time on this blog and has been floating around ever since. Yep it's that time once again, my Best, Middle, and Worst Movies of the Year List. If you are new to this, these are the movies that I saw in the dollar theater, the bigger named theaters, and of course DVD rentals. The 2nd Week of December Recap
-Well one major thing was the final week of fall semester classes which went well, the survey presentation (which I might have mentioned last recap) went well. I have two finals this coming week and then I will officially be on my winter break. Speaking of school, I also sold four of my textbooks this week at Buyback, yay
-The stupid snow showed up a couple times, Friday and Saturday night were nice but I guess most can say it was the warm before the storm(s). Therefore I disliked the snow today, making today my hibernation day (charging iPod, catching up on TV shows and Geek Show Podcast, making ringtones, counting coins, etc busy work stuff)
-Got hooked to Bad Movie Beatdown (click the link to check it out)
-I rented a movie that I've seen a couple recommendations for. The movie was The Assassination of a High School President and I enjoyed it a lot. It will appear on annual movie list in a couple days.
- The highlight of the week was Friday and Saturday. Friday was a rare occasion where I hung out with both of my best friends whose names are Steven Lee (mentioned a couple times before on this blog) and Neal Black (someone I've known over 15 years who currently lives in California)
Steve and I got some lunch and I watched his TV while he played with a remote control toy car.
Neal and I drove around somewhat Friday night picking up and droping off his brother Justin who is also a very good friend. We also ate food, played games, and chatted it up with him and his family. Saturday was sort of the same except I brought Anna along to meet Neal and his family. This was awesome cause she hasn't really met any of my friends until now.
That's about it
now got to think about what to do this week when I'm not at school
there's a place that serves pizza that I want to try out
Will I go there!? Find out next recap post
Until then, enjoy the next couple posts celebrating my favorite movies and music of 2009.

Crappity Crap Crap- The Bad Movies of the Last Five Years
Thank you God for killing the projector when I saw Kickin' It Old Skool, that's what you get for naming your main character Justin, you dicks
Movie Dork here again, For the last 5 years I have kept track of the movies I see which has helped me make my annual "Best, Middle, and Worst Movies" list. Plenty of movies have fallen under the bottom third category also known as the "Bad" category and I sometimes get major flack for it.
Doing research on my own stuff, here are some reasons why I call a movie "bad"
-Not kidding, one good joke in the entire movie.
-over advertised movies that don't live up to the hype
-Live Action Family Films (obviously not my favorite)
-Comedians I hate or who haven't made anything good in years
-Good comedians making extremely horrible film role choices
-Remakes, Sequels, Video Game Adaptations, or other ideas that don't make for good movies
-Singers I already don't like or care for trying to act
-Movies with beautiful girls to look at but the movie itself blows (What I sometimes call a "booty movie")
-The movies starring the hot couple at the time that turns out bad for both the movie and the real life relationship
-Crude humor that's just not necessary or that's just not trying hard enough
-Macho shithead movies that will most likely play on Spike meaning an abundance of stereotypical guy stuff- cars/racing, "hot" girls, guns, etc.
-Boring, quiet, long, slow, common complaints, etc.
-All the good jokes were in the trailer
-All the potential in the world to be great but just doesn't use it
-One actor does incredibly great but rest of movie is awkward, uncomfortable, or just plain sucks
-Big budget holiday releases that in the end make me say "Who gives a shit?"
OR
Just needs a second chance but I'm not willing to pay for it
With that said, here are the bad movies in the last five years where they were so bad and so painful that the titles themselves make me cringe.
2005- The Perfect Man
2006- School for Scoundrels
2006- Waiting
2007- License To Wed
2007- The Ex
2007- Kickin It Old Skool
2008- Four Christmases
2008- The Love Guru
2009- Year One
2007- The Ex
2007- Kickin It Old Skool
2008- Four Christmases
2008- The Love Guru
2009- Year One
I'll see you in hell dumbass movies!! Seriously, they will play these in hell over and over. I'm not looking forward to it.
Coming next week- My 5th Annual Best, Middle, and Worst Movies of the Year List
1st Week of December Recap
- Went to see the lights at Thanksgiving Point with the fam, I thought they were nice. I stayed inside the car while the rest sat in the back of a truck. They had some song from Bambi on repeat on the speaker system WTF? Went to eat some food at a little cafe place there, and I was not expecting how yummy the food was. Mmmmm I'll drive over there just for that.
- I saw the movie Surrogates, not much to say about it, I think I got the point of what's going on I dunno I was dozing off during the movie.
-Oh yeah, I also saw the new movie Brothers. It was good and all but totally not what I thought it was going to be. I have come to like this trend in movies where the trailer doesn't give it all away or make it really predictable. I would have made it more predictable by switching some scenes around but that's just me.
-Had a great weekend with Anna, we got some Christmas pictures done and went to one of her family Christmas parites.
-I've been dreading stepping on the scale cause of the ridiculous amounts of food I've been eating in the last 2 weeks. The results turned out to be I gained only a couple pounds. So I'm going to be not so crazy with the food this week.
- Went to the Festival of Trees on Friday night, which was a bad idea cause it was obviously the worst night to go. The crazy traffic on the way, the parking space hunt, and the enormous crowd killed any enjoyment I could of had. I caught a glimpse of a couple cool trees which satisfies me enough, I'm mostly there for the sweets.
-I'm entering the last week of Fall classes and cannot wait to get it done, the big pain is a group presentation of a survey done for a class on Wednesday night. The big pain is not knowing which portion I'm talking about yet as I write this.

Turkey Day Week, actually more like Burger Day Week
perfect image for this post, thanks to Steel Closet for having this image
So much stuff went down on Thanksgiving week. It's one of those weeks when you don't realize how awesome it is at the time but when looking back it brings back great memories. Soo went to the short week of school and then awaited for the arrival of my sister Crystal and her two children that are visiting us until later this week. Wednesday was a big food shopping day for the Thanksgiving holiday with stops at Sunflower Market and Costco. Wednesday was also the day of the burger where I had both Five Guys and In-n-Out which at this point are the kings of the burger places. I'm not going to choose sides on the better burger, but Five Guys gets points in having a bigger selection, better french fries (the peanut oil just beats out vegetable oil), and last but not least Five Guys has my soda mistress Coke Zero. Anyway, I went to In-n-Out with my cosuin David AKA Nacho who worships the burgers made by them. It was a great chance to sit and discuss some things while chowing down on yummy food cause I don't do much with him these days.
Thanksgving Day
Woke up and watched The Taking of Pelham 123 which is just a bland movie compared to other vehicle hostage movies like Speed. I like Denzel and everything but it's just boring and not much action until the end but even then it was weak. I had the main Thanksgiving dinner at my girlfriend's grandmother's house which went OK, I watched The Little Rascals movie on the TV and I realized just how influenced I was by that movie. I know which months have 30 days in it thanks to that flick, it helps with my brain that remembers a boatload of stuff. Then my girl Anna and I went over to my parent's house to chat and eat some pie. We were originally going to see an evening showing of The Blind Side but it was sold out so we ended up seeing New Moon (which is kinda what I wanted to see in the first place). I enjoyed the movie and it was a fun experience cause of how soap opera-ish it is mixed with the oohs and awws at Edward and Jacob.
Weekend
The rest of the weekend consisted of going on an impulse trip to Park City with my family (so my niece and nephew can see some snow), two nights of Beatles Rockband thanks to my brother bringing over all his gear to play, hanging out with Anna just kicking back, going to In-n-Out again (Note to self, skip getting fries from them, they just taste like potato chips anyway), and watching the first season of the British Whose Line Is It Anyway? on DVD. And ooh boy I've had sooo much food in the past week it's ridiculous.

Ehhh this week didn't have much to it
Ooooooh I'm excited to see this movie next year. I've heard good things about Kick-Ass.
Anyway
Let's see what there is to say about this week
-It wasn't all bad, I heard from a couple friends which is always good.
-I went to funeral on Monday for my dad's uncle (also my hairstylist's father, and speaking of her I have an early hair appointment with my parents hours after typing this blog)
-I went and saw Love Happens on Tuesday and wow that movie was a huge downer. It had a couple good moments but was pretty boring and stupid. Watching the Nostalgia Critic (mentioned last time) made me wanna point out strange parts and make silly comments toward the movie. Side note- I also like watching the Nostalgia Chick on thatguywiththeglasses.com
-I got a Swine Flu shot, yay for me, they are offered at my mom's work so I took the chance since I fit the criteria and yadda yadda
-In-n-Out finally opened in Orem, UT a couple days ago but I think I'll wait just a little bit before confronting the extremely huge lines to get a burger. Yes, a burger, that seems to be everybody's mentality- "It's just a burger" well, if it's made right- it's one of the best burgers in the land.
-Got a crap load of schoolwork done this week, making yesterday pretty boring because of no more big assignments to work on. So I filled my time on the computer finishing ranking albums for my list I keep talking about, organizing stuff in my room, watching several programs like Geek Show (Comcast On Demand), PTI (sports show I've watched over 7 1/2 years now), and R. Kelly's Trapped In The Closet Chapters 13-22. Oh yeah I also went on long walk yesterday which I haven't done in a while.
Speaking of time, it was one year ago yesterday that my life was turned upside down when I met the girl in person who would eventually be my first girlfriend, who would later introduce me to my current girlfriend. The first week of knowing her was so surreal and not anything like my life had been.
That's it for now peoples

New Internet Obsession
Yes I always seem to have a current internet obsession, whether it be somebody's videos (Angry Video Game Nerd for example) or some random Facebook app such as Restaurant City or the Friend of the Day Application which makes me feel special cause I get to say something really nice about the majority (I know I've probably mentioned this before so just bear with me) of my friends and hopefully they notice and acknowledge the honor with a comment of some sort. Hopefully someday I get to be somebody's Friend of the Day. The highest probability will most likely be from my girlfriend since she uses that app too.
Anyway the internet obsession thing, I've spent the last four days spending hours upon hours watching The Nostalgia Critic on thatguywiththeglasses.com who makes fun of old movies and TV shows. I find them hilarious first off because the films he talks about are the ones I watched with my friends as a kid including 3 Ninjas, Sidekicks, and Blank Check. I also laugh cause he points out the lines and stories that have been used abundantly in other movies and tv shows. Sound effects used also have me rollin on the floor. I admire that he at least tries to be creative and make each review a little different. As I write this I'm watching his review of the Michael Jackson movie Moonwalker
Where do I get the time to watch all these videos you ask? Well there comes a time in every college school semester where the worst of it is over. Presentations, big papers, and big exams are out of the way so I can relax more and not have to be so concerned with school assignments. Also I have no job and nobody to hang out with, at least today. For the last 5 weeks or so I have been in the compnay of my best (local) friend Steve on most days since his driver's liscense is suspended and he needs rides from work and to places to smoke since he cannot smoke anywhere near his apartment. Our basic plan every time we hang is to go to the mall, go to Wal Mart, and back to his aparmtent which is nearby both places.
So yeah, this pretty much sums up my week (and last week, grrr I sucky at bloggy) so far.
let's see what updates can I bring to you readers
Remodeling- it's pretty much done at this point, there's stuff to be added later but the major stuff is over with.
Music/Movies- Excited to unveil my "60 Favorite Albums of the 2000s (2000-2009)" list next month along with other lists like my "Favorite Music of 2009", my "5th Annual Best, Middle, and Worst Movies of 2009 (Which I saw), and maybe even a bonus 10 Favorite Movies of the last 10 years. Yay for lists and junk, it's just my thing, sorry if you don't care.
I may have started a Saturday Movie Late Night tradtion (after the Halloween viewing of Hard Candy mentioned last time) for myself with the viewing of Sex Drive last Sautrday. Makes me tired as hell for church the next morning but oh well.
Later y'all
thanks for reading
